Our Wild Neighbors!
One Member of our Bobcat Family
Situated perfectly between the mountains and the plains, Trinidad and Cougar Canyon are both hosts to an amazing diversity of wildlife.
Cougar Canyon is home to a herd of elk during the wintertime, while antelope are a common sight just to the east of our ridge neighborhoods.
Because Cougar Canyon is surrounded by undeveloped land on three sides, the line between nature and civilization is decidedly blurry.
It's not uncommon to watch deer cross into the trees above Gray Creek, and a shy family of bobcats have been popping-up around the community.
And the wildlife is definitely not limited to the four-legged variety. Cougar Canyon is home to red-tailed hawks, owls, and an occasional golden eagle. Now that there are permanent water features in the community, blue herons are common visitors during their migration.
So, be sure to keep your eyes and ears open - you never know which neighbor may make an introduction!
